Scripture Writing in Philippians—Join Me at Bible Copy Club

I’ve been invited to be a guest writer at Bible Copy Club for a four-week series on Philippians! Join me there and let’s copy out this book together.

If you’ve been thinking about trying Scripture writing (copying out the Bible by hand), or if you’re just feeling the need to do something different in your daily Bible time, I have some good news!

Beginning next week and continuing through July, I’ll be collaborating with Andy at Bible Copy Club to walk you through copying the entire book of Philippians, a few verses at a time (use this link to receive this series). We start on Monday, July 7, and by August 1, you’ll have written out the entire book. And because you’ve taken it slowly and had time to think about what you’re writing, you’ll have more of it stored away in your heart than you might have by just reading alone.

Bible Copy Club is a free subscription that sends daily emails, Monday through Friday. Besides the day’s verses, each email provides two additional, unique elements that help focus your thoughts as you write:

  • A short, introductory meditation puts the passage into context, points out things you might have missed, and suggests ways that the day’s verses might apply in your own life. I’m excited to be the guest writer of these meditations for the month of July!
  • A bonus “Encouragement” after the passage provides an additional Bible verse or quote to think about or to use as additional material for copying. Andy supplies these, and he always chooses relevant and thoughtful go-along verses or quotes.

This four-week series is a great way to see if you enjoy writing out Scripture, or to change up what you’ve been doing for a mid-summer break.

I’d love for you to join me for this unique and inspiring journey through Philippians. I chose this book for this Bible Copy Club collaboration for a couple of reasons: Philippians was the first book that I wrote out when I shifted from topical Scripture writing to copying out entire books back in 2022. It was short, and I was about to lead a Bible study on it, so I thought it would be a great way to dig deeper, go more slowly, and really absorb and reflect on Paul’s words in a new way. And that’s exactly what happened.

And now, more than three years later, I get to go through it again, this time with thousands of others who are copying alongside. For me, writing the meditations for this series was truly a joy (I use the word “joy” intentionally—find out why on the first day of this series).

Won’t you join us?
